Before & After Care- Do’s & Don’ts:
Follow these guidelines to prepare for your botox appointment:
- Come hydrated to support your body’s healing process
- Come with a clean face, please – avoid makeup, lotions, or other skin care products before your appointment.
- Skip alcohol – avoid alcoholic beverages for 24 hours before your treatment.
- Limit caffeine – this can help minimize swelling
- Discuss medical history and ensure all forms are submitted.
After care:
- Avoid touching or massaging the face for 4 hours after being injected.
- No lying down or putting the pressure on the face for at least 4 hours after being injected. Always better to sleep in an elevated position on your first night.
- Avoid vigorous exercise the rest of the day.
- Avoid wearing tight ponytails or headbands the rest of the day.
- Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours after injection.
- Refrain from wearing makeup or putting anything on the face for the rest of the day.
- Stay away from excessive heat exposure.
- Take it easy the rest of the day and resume normal activities the next day.
Schedule your follow up appointment at 2 weeks. This allows the toxin to set in and reassesses needs for a touch-up treatment or additional dosing. This also is an opportunity to take after photos! For most patients results can start to be seen within several days of treatment. These continue to improve up to 2 weeks.
